uberneuman - yea, i ran a test right after it came back up, and it reflected the cap, but now it's much slower than that!

j0lly - yea, i had that problem too, but fixed it the same day my internet came back. i don't thikn this is a problem with dns.

narzy - okay, as long as this horribly slow speed isn't permanent and will be resolved soon, i'm fine with that. can you put in a good word for the removal of the cap? ;)

Gopunk, the problem really isn't any sort of download cap, nor even the last mile networks, it's the backbone. AT&T's connections to at least a few major backbones, including Above.net and AOL are slow and overcrowded, pushing ping times surpassing 1 second in some cases. While it's possible your problems are local, based on what I'm experiencing(I listen to a shoutcast that comes from the AOL network; I have a pseudo-proxy on another network decoding and encoding the stram via-Winamp to send it back to me over a non-overworked backbone); it's the backbone, not you. The best thing you can do outside of finding a proxy yourself is to complain to AT&T, and mabey cut your neighbor's connection.:|

I'm a lot slower than the old @home network and I haven't had more than 2/3 towards the "cap" since the new network came on line. I'm going to give them a month to get the network working, and then I'll start looking into my other options. I know that the AT&T engineers are busting their butts right now, so I'm not going to get all extreme on them.

michael - yea i'm with you. i'll give them their fair chance, but if they can't do it, i might just pay for something else. unfortunately att is the only cable internet provider here.
