Attacks on Synagogues in Canada
Sun Apr 14,11:15 PM ET
By TOM COHEN, Associated Press Writer

TORONTO - A Jewish group breaks off decades of interfaith talks with Christian and Catholic denominations. Two synagogues are set on fire. Protests are held regularly in major cities.

Canada is feeling the effects of the Middle East conflict, reflecting its diverse population created by immigration policies that attract more than 200,000 newcomers and their political disputes each year.

Since the latest escalation of Palestinian suicide bombings and Israeli military assaults, the Canadian government's policy has focused on even-handedness, condemning the Palestinian terrorism and calling for Israel to withdraw from Palestinian-controlled territory.

One here in the town was torched for $130K worth of damage last week sometime. Yesterday, they had a service as usual. Them folks are resiliant I guess.

Yes Tex. While the ever-changing winds of political correctness shift, it is now all the rage in Europe. Canadians like to identify with Europe and pretend they are not in a North America that is polluted by the U.S. and our bankrupt values.

<< When did the Palestinians stop being semites? >>

1948.
In 1967 they decided that was not good enough, and the invented the nationality of Palestinian.

What's one church to a people who were rounded up gassed, shot and buried in mass graves?

Just shows you though that hate isn't isolated in the Middle-East and against France

Roll you eyes all you want, but you can't deny U.S. bashing is a national past time in Canada.
Unless you are reading more into my post that there is.

Sorry Jimbo, you don't change your race and ancestry when you change your nationality. Palestinians and jews are Semites.

Don't forget Ethiopians ;) (Yep, they're Semites too :))

However, you and I know that it's pretty much accepted English for people to know you're talking about just Jews when you say Semite...per Dictionary.com's definition. Look at the 2nd entry.

Sort of like driving on a parkway and parking on a driveway, telling Native Americans that they're Indians, and a near miss is really a near hit :D

b0mb, the fact that it is becomming accepted English is precisely why I made the point. It is relevant and important to realize that this conflict is taking place among brothers who worship the same God. While it must be tempting to tar the Palestinians with the antisemitism brush, it doesn't wash. Each side is killing his brother.

Umm, no. Al-lah is the arab god of the moon from their former pantheon. He was head of the pantheon and was worshiped at a cube shrine in mecca (and still is). Yahwa was a seperate and totally unique construct from egyptian and babalyonian (and through them Hindu) influences. It was the first monthesistic religion. In every sense they do NOT worship the same god. Just because the Arabs claim to worship the same god as the Jews does not mean it's true. This is probably passed on as fact because Xians believe they worship the same god as the Jews as well, when in fact they don't.

Agreed. I think suicide-bombing people of any race is sad :(

I thought Zoroastrianism was the first monotheistic religion...

Again, I may be mistaken, but didn't Christianity start out as a denomination of Judaism? At what point did they start worshipping a different God?

Perhaps I should have used the sarcasm tags. Please inform the Arab community as well. They seem to have forgot.

rahvin, when your a monotheist, regardless of what name you call Him by, or where you discovered His unique indivisibility, He is the same God. Jdaism, Christianity, and Islam are three waves of the same core idea. What I think would be more accurate to say is that since that God is known only through a loving heart, the people involved in conflict aren't really believers at all. They just think they are.

I don't know...if they didn't believe in a God or at least an afterlife, I'm sure they'd feel much worse about blowing themselves up
