Bush: Confrontation With Iraq Likely

UNITED NATIONS ? It is "highly doubtful" that Saddam Hussein will comply with U.S. demands and avoid a confrontation with the world community, President Bush said Friday morning.

Meeting with African leaders at the United Nations, Bush reiterated his request for a U.N. resolution demanding that Saddam end his weapons programs.

"We're talking days and weeks, not months and years," the president said as he outlined his request for a U.N.-imposed deadline on Iraq. "That's essential for the safety of the world."

I looks like we are getting more countries on our side after Bush's speach to the UN, even France. Germany will not sign on because of the up comming elections, it's sad when a so called friend will risk american lives to win a election.

Actually, it looks like that could backfire..........there's an article on BBC which talks about how there are a lot of German citizens whom agree with the US and that Saddam must go and are really taking exception to his stance that Germany will not help under ANY circumstances as he stated.........;)

France will vote whatever Russia does, and we can use our bases in Germany no matter what they do. Germany isn't part of the security council anyway.

"That's essential for the safety of the world."

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why all this talk about the safety of the world? WHO does he think he is fooling, it's about the OIL... everyone outside the US understands that... G.W wants a war, he will have a war, who's next? The powerhungry nation USA is starting to look just like another nation who thought they could conquer the world...

Why do you think the world opposes this? (except for Bush's poodle Blair who cares more what his buddy G.W thinks than what the population of the country that he represents thinks)...

When a huge portion of the world's population determines for itself that we are dangerous to the world and begins to wish is ill, billions of actions and transactions will take place between people that will gragually accumulate until we fall, just as happened for the Soviet Union.

you're right... they have this thing about actually needing a reason before starting a war... That is... a reason other than "election year" or "they have OIL, we WANT THEIR OIL, it is rightfully ours... so we will make something up, we will go to war, we WANT THEIR OIL"...

And most people will just dismiss my comment, i will be LMAO when the US starts a war against the Saudis... (terrorism, not OIL, that is the reaon, it always is)...

Then what? a powerhungry nation, controlling ALL of the oil in the middle east... then what?

Don't read much do ya???;) The US is going through the UN to ask one last time that Saddam complies with the agreements made in 1991 and if he again refuses, will ask for a UN mandate of MULTILATERAL force to do what is neccessary to make him comply or be ousted. The grand sum of what you don't know seems to be great but still not as much as you seem to assume!;)

Perhaps maybe you "Lost the power - SNAP!;)

That's easy for you to say being from Sweden, your country was not attacked. As a matter of fact, if not for the "power hungry" who helped save all of Europe twice, including Sweden. If not for us you would most likely be under nazi rule now.

Actually, if you wanna go back 60 years, why not go back 85... read up on it... moron...

The US didn't interfere in WWII until the third reich was big enough to be a threat to the US, you didn't save ANYONES ass but your own... If the USA wouldn't have joined the allies, then the US would probably be a nazi nation too by now... US saved US asses... i will not be grateful for that...
