Attaching heatsink problems

Is it supposed to be a struggle to clip a heatsink to a motherboard? I got a Taisol heatsink (CEKxxxx), and I pushed and prodded and nearly broke a couple of capacitors trying to get the other end of the clip to snap down. I ended up using a screwdriver and pressing down against the upper hole (there's two holes on each end of the metal clips). All the while, I'm thinking, there's gotta be an easier way to do this. I plan on removing it and applying thermal grease, but I really don't want to go through the effort again, and I'm afraid while I am putting the heatsink back on I'll end up smearing the thermal grease all over.

Suggestions?

 
Putting my Alpha PAL 6035 on was a scary, pain-in-the-a$$ ordeal. I bent the clip to make it easier and it was still a pain. Had the same problems as you, capacitors in the way, had to use a screw driver, was afraid I was smearing my ASII all over.

Eventually it went on and is cooling fine. Just be sure to apply even pressuse so you don't crack the core. Remember, it's supposed to push down pretty hard. That's how it stays on and when it presses it gets better heat transfer.
