Attaching front license plate?

I moved from florida to texas with my 2004 Pontiac Vibe. Texas requires front plates, but there aren't any holes/edges to attach a holder. How does one attach the plate? Should I just go to a jiffylube/mechanic and have them drill holes?

Most people drill holes, some people find other ways to mount it without drilling holes

Sure. Your below average mechanic will do it too but he'll use drywall screws.

i just got some stainless sheet metal screws and put washers on them, i got #10 screws and screwed it into the bumper. has held for a few years. if you go to the dealer you should be able to get the front license plate holder fairly cheap. the one for my truck was about 30 bucks and came with the hardware to install it.

Look on the hood right under the emblem and you will see two small dots that would be the covered up license plater holders.

Most cars have spots to place the plates, but on many of them they are covered with paint in case you live in a state that doesn't require front plates.

Look at this pic. I bet if you look closely on your car you will see spots to put the holes. Might have to crawl under the car and look from the backside.

I've seen some L-shaped brackets where you can make the holes on the bottom side of the bumper. It won't leave holes in the front if you ever go back to a state that doesn't require the front plate.

Yeah..I wish I had one of those :/ A friend of mine has a Mazdaspeed3 and has the tow hook bracket. Brilliant idea.

My Mazdaspeed 6 did not even have holes in it when it was at the dealer. I had already test driven a silver one, so when they got a black one in I bought it right off the truck. Still had the clingy plastic all over it and only 0.8 miles or so on the odometer. Salesperson asked if I wanted the front plate holes drilled in it and I said "no" but sadly when they prepped the car, the mechanic drilled 'em anyways.

put three strips of heavy duty double sided tape on the back side of mount. then use zip ties through holes to tie it to vehicle.

if your state requires it I suggest you put it on. Cops may not pull everyone over, but they will use it as an excuse to pull you ass over when they feel like it.
