My dad tends to buy everything Sony or Panasonic. He said their quality is unmatched, although I think Panasonic sucks. The VCR compared to my no brand VCR, I don't see any difference, besides Panasonic one taking 5x longer to rewind tapes.

Hmm, well, I only buy Canon cameras. Other then that I'm fairly equal opportunity. I really prefer Toshiba TV's tho and for portables I almost always buy Sony.

EDIT: Honda Fanboy:p (Tho I do want the Legacy that's coming out)

not really, although I generally do buy the "good brands"...I just do my research on a significant purchase and buy whatever's supposed to be the best.

Panasonic makes decent A/V equipment.... I read their HDTV's are good so I got one.... I think it's really nice.. things like receivers and speakers, that's different... but their TV's and DVD players are very good.

Sony is more of the same... for the most part over-rated but some of their products actually ARE still pretty good (even reviews will say so)

meh

Smack him for saying that. Of all the electronics I've owned Sony has been the most problematic. I'm amazed my Sony DVD player has made it to three years old without dying. Anyway, I'm not loyal to any particular brand. I avoid the garbage cheap stuff like anyone with common sense, and I buy stuff that's received good recommendations.

hahaha, Sony built good stuff like 15-20 years ago. Today they build crap. Even in japan now, sony has a rep for being timebombs; they die when the warranty runs out.

My Sony DVD player lasted about a year and 2 months before it died. I looked around on the Internet and found out that Sony KNOWS that a lot of their players are defective and will die after 1 1/2 to 2 years, but they chose not to do anything about it. Fortunately for them the warranty is only for one year.

I replaced it with a $100 Panasonic and will never buy another Sony product again.

You know, I've been wondering this for a while - a couple of years ago, everyone used Blunts it seemed like... now it's all Dutch Masters... why the switch?

Abit...but for the most part no brand loyalty. I think that's just dumb and keeping an open mind is a better idea.

I'll only buy motherboards with chipsets made by the processor manufacturer.
I won't shop at Goody's or Kohl's because I hate their commercials so much.

Locally there are certain restaurants I won't eat at, but none of you would know the difference, so it's a moot point.

I usually buy one of the more recognizable brands (at least something I'm familiar with), but whichever one of them is the cheapest at the time.

I understand where you are coming from, but I actually like my panasonic 19" TV. Went to CC and looked at all of them, this one had the best picture.
Anyway...have any of you ever seen an Orion TV? I can't find much on the internet about this brand but I find their TV to actually look alright.

I've driven Vw's since I was a teenager (I'm 32). So yeah, you could say I'm attached. I wouldn't think of buying another make. Unless of course, I came into a ton of money...

You're really an UglyCassanova if a monitor is the love of your life.
