Attach CD-ROM to NAS or Router

Call me a curmudgeon but I still occasionally use my CD-ROM drive. Music still comes on them, software still comes on them, now my X-rays and MRIs come on them. While I am getting older I'd like to upgrade the computers in my home to newer compact form factors with SSDs and a NAS. I have a Plextor CD-DVD RW Multi burner 5.25" half height that plugs int a sata port that I really like and would like to keep. The new multi-burners (especially the slim form factors) are crap. Is there a way to attach this to a NAS or a router?

Now excuse me while I put on a record, check my messages on my "answering tape," and defrost my Fridgidaire.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you may have.

Most NAS boxes have custom OS's that aren't really designed with adding in optical drives. Off hand, I'm going to say it's unlikely you'd have a GUI way of accessing data on a NAS

I believe where hard drives, usb sticks, and flash cards all use the same driver, dvd drives do not and this driver is not built into routers and network drives.
