I was on "unlimited" for years, but when I checked I found that I'd used less than 2GB in a year. For $15 less a month, I quite happily switched to 200MB - which is about what I use when I'm not paying attention anyway. Coupled with the instant notifications if I'm getting close to 200MB and the ability to change between 2GB and 200MB whenever I want and, for me, and for me it was almost no decision at all.
The instant AT&T announced that I could switch, I phoned and got myself off of the old "unlimited" plan.
I have a first gen iPhone on unlimited. I will see if there is anyway to swing the old $30 plan when I upgrade, and if not, then I will go for the 2GB plan.
Last billing cycle I used 110MB out of 200MB. This billing cycle, I'm 10 days in and am at 32.1MB. I have two email accounts synch'd, as well as my calendar, my contacts, and I surf the web frequently - but not for hours - on it.
I did, I went from 2G (1st gen) to iphone 4. No problems keeping the unlimited
Did you upgrade to the iPhone 4 AFTER they changed their policy?
I don't know what that means, I preordered the iPhone 4 via Apples website. I know countless people who went from the 2G to the 4 and kept the unlimited plan but they all preordered. If they changed their policy after release - i can't speak to that
AT&T changed their data plans (policy) from Unlimited for $30/month to the existing 2GB for 25/month or 200MB for 15/month. Did you activate your iPhone 4, and by extension, change your plan with AT&T, AFTER the data pricing switch? I cannot recall when the switchover happened.
Yes the switchover happened before the preorder. AT&T grandfathered in all iPhone users who upgraded to the 4, whether it was from the 2, 3G or 3Gs - who wanted to keep the $30 unlimited.
