I'm thinking of getting att dsl service in queens, ny. It's priced at 39.99 with a 1 year committment and free modem & free installation. Has anybody had any experiences with them? Anybody have any suggestions for a better dsl priced under $40? Thanx!

We never will. There's a market for broadband in major cities, so the prices will stay the same. When broadband is available way out in the middle of nowhere, then optical might have a chance at reasonable prices. That's an eternity away.

AT&T doesn't have DSL. It's called cable. And there are plenty of reviews at DSLReports.com.

Well IF attbi had actually stayed up, not down for hours at a time during prime time in West LA, it would not have forced me to to go to DSL. Of course the raising the price and chopping the speed to 1/3 of what it was before they bought out the old company didn't help them either.

mediaone/roadrunner was 4Mb down 384Kb up at 34.99 a month. ATTBI takes over and drops it to 1.5Mb down 128Kb up, and raises price to 44.95 a month.
And to top it off, not a day went by that it didn't drop sync for a tleast 30 minutes usually an hour between 7 and 10 pm.

Now I have 7.1Mb down 768Kb up DSL that has been down 0 in the 3 months I have had it. And I really enjoy the speed increase.

So word to the large companies, don't take over someone, raise the price, lower the service, cause it to become unavailable, and hope peple hang around. Internet junkies will find a new provider ASAP!
