ATT cable internet : server not accessible from outside

I just got my ATT cable internet service.

I set up a web server(port 8080) and ftp server(2121), neither works.
anybody know if ATT has blocked the ports or request from outside?

in their website, ATT says that they don't allow servers to be put in
their cable network. So I wonder if this is possible to have your own
server.

no way ATT blocked any ports, at least i have never heard of that before. But i live in the hot deals forum, not the tech support one
