Samsung Captivate, Dell Streak, or Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Each of them with their own quirkiness, but they're pretty much the top ones.

captivate as long as you can deal with the GPS issues.

Otherwise the X10 has a very large following.

I have heard lots of good things about the X10. I've read that it run Android 1.6. How big of a difference is this from 2.1?

pretty big. it is confirmed that the xperia x10 is getting 2.1, so rest assured that you can still buy the phone and upgrade whenever 2.1 comes out.

Captivate or import a Canadian phone (they use the same bands).

Last I checked, X10 lacks multitouch...

Captivate is nice. Rumor has it that 2.2 will be coming out by the end of the month, but personally, I don't think it will be here until November at the earliest.

The GPS is a joke, and should get a little bit of a fix in the coming weeks, but I think it will plague the phone for a long time.

If you are going to go with ATT, it is really your only android option.

Captivate. It's a gorgeous piece of hardware, and it's really fast too.

Captivate is a great phone.
If the GPS works and it had a flash for the camera, it would be my perfect phone right now.

What is the deal with the GPS?

all (that I know of) Galaxy S phones have a hard time locking on to the birds. It made tasker and Nav pretty much unusable for me. There is supposed to be a fix coming by the end of the month, but who knows when it will drop or if it will really fix things.

It really is too bad. These are great phones that are crippled by something silly. I dare say its worse than the IP4 reception issue since its constant.

I have an HTC aria. I like it. Got it rooted running froyo and its an awesome phone. Well, awesome for my needs. If you want anything hi-def, processor intensive, or a large screen the aria ain't for you. Its screen is smaller than my old iPhone's screen. Watching movies or playing games would be much better on one of the other phones. My aria is the perfect size to go in my pocket and does email, web browsing, and music perfect, which is all I wanted. Hope that helps.

If you still have your Vibrant, try this fix. It's just the GPS files ripped from the leaked firmware. Mine locks super quick now and get 6-8 locks constantly indoors. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782242

OP, I recommend the Captivate.
