Att and Nexus one?

I know at&t claims "all smartphones require data"..

However, when you go to the list of "phones requiring data packages" the nexus one is not listed...

Any chance I could get the 10$ unlimited data? I've read a number of places people are doing just that..

I mean.. one of the biggest defenses for the mandatory 30$ data package has been the cry " we lose money when we sell smart phones" and seeing as this phone is unsubsidized they lost nothing..

my friend got an at&t nexus one, and she called the at&t rep about this same situation. happily, since the N1 isnt a at&t branded phone, she was eligible for the $10 data plan and not the $30 one. you should be fine i think.

I was an iPhone user (still on contract) and when I got the N1, I called ATT to say I sold my iPhone and was using some phone I didn't know the name of. They had me give them the IMEI number to look it up but it didn't work since the phone was not in their system.

I asked for the $15 data plan (from $30) and instead the CSR suggested instead I take the $10 family data plan. I explained I am not on any such family plan to be eligible and he said don't worry abouit. So I went from $30 to $10.

Then a week later AT&T sends me a text message and says I can't be on the $10 plan and needed the $30 plan so they switched me over automatically.

I know a few people who went through the same situation and ended up on the $15 plan which I would have gladly taken.

Apple won't let AT&T touch Nexus One in their store....you know how Apple hates Nexus One. 🙂
