They lost me with "dynamic ad insertion". The whole reason I ditched watching TV traditionally is because I don't want commercials. I'm more than content to watch what Amazon, Netflix and others put out there without advertising forced in. I don't even use my antenna for local stuff because commercials suck. Not to mention they talk about data collection. Screw that...

Same for my music, I went all streaming with no commercials.

Looks like the end for me. A bag of DRM, Ad insertion, behavior tracking.

I like OTA currently as I record it and edit out commercials. Nice clean TV for free, with not DRM attached, no tracking.

The alternatives cost money too but at least some have a cloud DVR service so you can fast forward through commercials. This new ATSC standard will basically force you to watch ads and collect loads of data about you. Not a fan

Not saying I like it, but is anyone really surprised? As the saying goes "there's no time like the present!" (Why do I have a vague, uneasy feeling that might have started out as some sort of advertising slogan?<sigh>) Ajit Pai won't be in charge at the FCC forever, after all...;)
