ATSC 3.0 Woes

Ignorance is bliss... Until I read an article about the coming standard, I didn't know anything was ever going to change.
Is there cause for concern or reluctance to setup a HTPC or buy a 4k TV with the new standard looming? I want to have anything I buy for awhile, and do not want to have a tuner box a year from now.

From what I am seeing, the current ATSC 1.0 tuners will still work well into the 3.0 transition.

I have 3 different tuning devices that I use on a regular basis (2x HDHomeRun Connect, 1x Tablo 4 tuner DVR) and a HDMI to ATSC converter to integrate a non-ATSC device output into the mix, and all of them would need to be (converted or replaced) whenever ATSC 1.0 is fully shut down.

I imagine that whenever "ATSC 3.0 ready" devices first arrive we would have a couple of years to complete a changeover, and I would think that several "ATSC 3.0 to 1.0" converter boxes would come out well before the current ATSC signals are shut off.
