I figure some engineer saw a bunch of LS7's sitting around, realized Z28 sales were going to die off after the new Camaro announcement, and wondered what he could do with them.

The LS7 is built at the PBC in Bowling Green. I think they can just spend more time on LT4s there since the Z06 is selling well, and they'll need some for the new CTS-V as well.
