Looks a lot like a 6800 GTO, but with higher clocks. 425/1000 w/ 12/5 sounds sweet on a budget. It's a better than than the X800 GTO, the GS is SLI ready. Even if it gets stomped by a single 7800 GTX. Other than this card from eVGA, how many other 6800 vinillas/GTO/GS come with GDDR3? XFX has a similar one, but it's clocked 350/900 and sells for $200. Asus had the 6800 GE @ 350/1000, but it was AGP only. And Dell had the GTO @ 350/900 that came as an OEM. I would like to see a review of all of these cards in SLI.

I considered XFX's 6800 w/ GDDR3 @ 350/900 in SLI, but I just ordered the eVGA 7800GT/NF41 SLI combo for $399. I'll save up another $300-350 and get another 7800GT. The new nVidia beta drivers allow mixed brands/bios for SLI.

They didn't really need to include benchmarks on the X1600XT, because they previously showed it to perform much worse than a 6800GT, which is basically the same as a 6800GS. (Coincidentally the X1600XT barely performed better than a 6600GT). Link.

If it doesnt unlock to 16 pipes then no way is it a better deal than the gto. Also it would have to be priced under $200 to be competitive.

I was one of the original GTO2 modders here; they're awesome, I know first hand. But that doesn't detract from the worthiness of the 6800GS.

See my sig. Most c3d gto's unlock, and in fact my oc'd higher than my friend's gto2, which could only do about 540/550 stable.

thats a very nice card......i mean its really not far behind the 6800GT, 5.6 vs 5.1 Giga Texels and it actually has a higher throughput on the vertices per second

uber deal if it can be unlocked

Munky got it right. Its a decent card but its misleading to not mention that a c3d x800gto is just a flash away from blowing it away for $60 to $100 cheaper.

Of course, nVidia could just also lower the 6800 GTs to the prices that they should be at right now--which is about $225 in light of the prices for the 7800 GTs, but we know that won't happen.

Mainly because the cost of making the card hasn't gone down, since it's still the same old 130nm core which means lowering prices affects theor profit margins.

hmmm im not sure this will be unlockable

according to Bit-tech.net the core used is NV42 and on the current 110nm fab process. so it may not unlock....but it should clock decently

Too bad they couldn't just have released a vanilla 7800 series with 12 pipes and downclock it some. Sell it for $299MSRP and maybe $240-$250 street being they are scraping the entire 6800 line anyway(besides the GS model). I would gladly pay $50 more for this than a 6800GS.
