ATP3 Speaker tweaking

Is there anyway I can improve the way my ATP3s sound? I would like the subwoofer to be louder, and just turning the bass up doesn't do the trick. I bought them because I like the design, and I was hoping they would be better or at least equal quality to my ACS54s, but I think the sound quality is better on the 54s (even with the front speakers only). If not, they certainly aren't bad quality .. and I probably won't be able to tell the difference unless I listen to one right after the other .. and they only cost me about $25 plus tax (if the $30 rebate goes through). :)

Put the bass unit in a corner if possible, or near a wall if you can't use a corner. Having the bass unit near a wall-floor junction tends to reinforce bass output.

It actually does sound pretty good when I turn the bass up on my sound card's software. The 'Mega Bass' button on my stereo has pretty much the same effect. They seem to sound best if the treble is turned to about 3/4 also. I bought them for a system I am going to build, but right now they are hooked up to my stereo in a large side-drawer slot in my wooden desk. It seems to sound really good there, and I think it has enough open space around it. I just wish I had hardwood floors in my computer room :) Thanks for the replies.

Those speakers don't have bass, they just make loud, sloppy, muddy, non-musical farting noises. Fine for games, not so fine for music.

Indeed... The Z560's are great for gaming. And if gaming is the only thing you care about, then they are the speakers to have.

However, anyone who buys the 560's thinking they provide any sort of hi-fidelity musical accuracy is seriously deluding themselves. That's all I'm saying.

And please tell me why all the 560 owners feel compelled to post in every speaker thread. That's as annoying as all the AMD vs. Intel or ATI vs. Nvidia thread crapping that goes on. 560's are not the be-all end-all that they hype would leave you to believe. I understand they have an enthusiastic following, but when poor Deslocke asks how he can improve the sound of speakers he already has, why on Earth do you think posting "buy 560's, they rool!" is going to help?

And that's a quote. In my previous post I wasn't quoting you, per se. I think it's fairly obvious that the "you" in my statement is in the third person and refers to 560 owners in general and not any particular person specifically, however this direct quote of yours has pretty much the same meaning, and is just as pointless in the context of this thread. Furthermore, some people might think that someone who uses "u" in place of "you" might also be prone to saying things like "rool" and "rockz" etcetera, so I don't see how that might offend you.

And you still did not answer the question I posed: why do Z560 owners feel compelled to post in every speaker thread with useless crap posts that are not related to the questions anyone is asking? Here's my guess: they (not necessarily you) are thinking, "look how smart I am, I followed the herd and bought what everyone else is buying because people I don't know said it is cool and I really want to be part of something, anything, that will make me feel like I am smart or cool or whatever" Again, for clarity, that's not quoting you, those quotes just indicate that those words are hypothetically being said or thought by someone who is not me.

Unless you can show me otherwise I will assume you are one of those people, not that I really care and I certainly don't want to get in a flame war over it, I'm just curious as to the reasoning behind posts like yours. Here's your chance to be spokesperson for the Z560 club!

why didn't this conversation end right here?

well since i am posting already...

why do u keep saying that u r not necessarily calling me a z560 fanboy, but in the end, admit to assuming i am? besides... there really isn't anyone else posting in this thread, so if u're not the fanboy, it only leaves me or deslocke. also, i do not feel the need to answer the question (which u have taken the liberty to put in bolded text) u posed, becuz i do not own them. if u read the second post in this thread, u will see that i actually own the atp3s.

i am sorry to disappoint u, but i do not fall under ur stereotypical fanboy "thinking, 'look how smart I am, I followed the herd and bought what everyone else is buying because people I don't know said it is cool and I really want to be part of something, anything, that will make me feel like I am smart or cool or whatever'". i actually have been into retail stores (ie - compusa, best buy, staples) when they have speakers side by side. i have listened to them & and i gave deslocke my opinion of them. having a favorable opinion of a product automatically makes me a fanboy?

Unless you can show me otherwise I will assume you are one of those people, not that I really care and I certainly don't want to get in a flame war over it, I'm just curious as to the reasoning behind posts like yours.
please stop assuming and click here. reasoning behind my post? unlike my normal nefs, i was trying to be helpful.

i don't have time to be a spokesperson, i am too busy being a fanboy in every speaker thread i see.

spanky, what are you, 12 years old? Quit being a baby, and you're even worse of a fanboy than I thought (at first I wasn't sure you were, but it's now ***CONFIRMED***) since you are pimping something you don't even have!

With over 10,000 posts in one year you really should find something productive to do with all that energy. Just think of the results you could achieve if you dedicated that much effort to something useful!

yes, u achieve much by calling ppl names on the internet. btw, great & content filled comeback u have there. so it is ***CONFIRMED*** that u believe having a favorable opinion of a product automatically makes someone a fanboy... that show's ur maturity. and sure, i am 12 years old... but at least i do not need to resort to personal attacks when i am proven wrong.

Yeah, spanky - you're the king of content. Right. You haven't made a single useful post in this thread (or ever, as far as I can tell). Yet you've proven me wrong somehow? You haven't proven anything except what a moron u are. You can't even read with comprehension. Good bye.

more name calling... great. i never claimed to be anything. it is u who assumed that i am a "z560 fanboy" & "king of content". believe it or not, i tried to address part of deslocke's problem (the bass). btw, i do believe i showed u i do not own z560's. if u re-read the thread... i think it's me who made the last post relevant to the topic. then u crawled in.
