people tell me its a big thing to make a website thats compatible with all the browsers and one that can be viewed using screens with different resolutions. Is that true?

no, just code for IE6 at 1152x864 and you'll be fine.

Ross, I use dathorn for my paying clients and use [whatever AT user offered $5/month for hosting] for my pro-bono clients. The $300 is a yearly fee for hosting and usage of the site 😀
