Did any of you guys ever visit lower Manhattan before this happened?

I live here and it *still* blows my mind to see this. In the first pic, you see the greenish buildings on the far side? They were never visible from the east side. And all of the sunlight? Used to be shade . That corner down the street from the staples (past the old graveyard on the left) used to be WTC 5 and there was a Border's there. Exactly one week before the attack I was sitting in there with my children on my lap listening to a kid's reading. They stilled smelled of Krispy Kreme donuts (also in WTC 5). We were on a "last day of Summer" visit to one of our favorite places.

Amazing the thoughts that rush through one's mind just looking at a picture....

so do I,it's like seeing a tangible bit of evidence of the huge outpouring of anguish,love and caring that happened here in those dark days. AT really banded together,it was a beautiful thing to come out of a terrible horror ..
