make your own from dead hard drives and old case fans. fasten it together with IDE/SATA cables tied together with those audio wiresthat go from CD-ROM -> Sound Card.
get the ones that they used on "the day after" the big puffy yellow ones that are really good for things like climbing up mount everest and crossing the antarctic....
I'd say wool coat for the winter jacket. I also have a pea coat, and I got mine on sale. Shop around and you can get a really warm coat for less than 200.
Columbia. They are on clearence everywhere right now. Mine had a $200MSRP, got it for $120. Not a killer deal, but easily the best purchase I've made this winter. Has kept me warm ever since I got it and haven't found it cheaper anywhere else.
Columbia all the way. After a lifetime of spending $30 every season on a Marshall's no-name jacket (warm enough, but zippers broke/shell tore easily), a couple years ago I dropped $180 and bought myself the best winter jacket I've ever owned (Boulder Ridge, complete with the zip-out liner which doubles as a second light jacket)... no turning back now.
