Hey there all.

Anyway I found this auction before it ended actually. However, I noticed the scam right off the bat. But apparently somebody fell for it. I emailed the guy who bought it and explained the scam to him. Anyway ATOT do what you do best please mess with this scammer.

I know I'm being too nice for some of you who are bound to say "It serves the guy right" type BS. But honestly you would be very mad if you fell for something like this and we all make mistakes.

WTF? Who sells the box from an iBook?

That probably won't help at all since the auction clearly states that it's for the box.

What kind of moron bets on something without reading it clearly. Or even looking at the pics clearly. I say he deserves to learn a lesson.

The auction is legal it spells it out just enough but ebay isn't going to do anythng about it.

I made the post I did to make a point. I'm fully aware that it's an action for a box. The person who bought this is an idiot.

Granted, the guy comes off a little slimy, but it's not really a scam... the title says "box" and the first line in the description says: "You are bidding on a brand new 14" G4 iBook Box only." Anybody who plops down $500 for an auction without reading it deserves what they get.

Yes I know the auction is legal but honestly we all know the sellers intentions here. Honestly he's just a jerk. I would hope you ATers would have a little integrity and wouldn't post junk like that.

Buyer was a dumbass, yes.

Seller listed the item inappropriately with an intent to deceive his customer as you can see from the category its listed in. While he was telling the truth, his intent was to confuse uneducated consumers and this is an unethical business practice. It's not going to win him customers in the long run.

His intentions were to sell a box. Would you be mad if it went for $3.50.

selling a box makes him a jerk? He specifically said BOX in both the title and description. There's no scam. He just wants to sell a box. As for the guy bidding $500 on it, how do you know the seller wont have ethics about it and say "look man, its just a box. Id feel bad for selling it to you for $500" or he could legally just get the $500 through no form of fraud.

Bidder + dumb mistake = possible loss of $500..

No selling a box dosen't make him a jerk. The fact that he posted the auction witha $500 buy it now makes him a jerk he was very purposely trying to find a stupid buyer.

And honestly I know that messing with this guy won't nessicarly change him. But at least it will tell him that people are looking and hopefully detur him from doing this BS in the future.

It is in the "other" category with T-shirts, pens, and other crap. It isn't listed in the actual desktop category. The first bid was for $2.00. Obviously someone who took the time to read.
