I'm just going with what I know. I've always lived to the south, west or north west of Philly, so I've never heard a group of 21 year old girls say "omg, lets go to doylestown tonight"
New Hope is beautiful, but it's not a "nightlife" town. It's a quaint/classy restaraunt area... sort of like the bulk of the main-line.
The top Philly destinations that I was aware of are in the poll.
of course new hope is known for their bed and breakfasts.
that might be more of a married people thing.

Dude, New Hope is packed and swinging on the weekend nights. After all the asshole Jersey day tourists go home, people come from miles around to see and be seen.

i just moved to yardley in December of 2005.
of course i moved from just accross the river, Lawrenceville, NJ.
the only time i've ever been in New Hope was to spend a night with my wife their (a weekend away from the kids (my parents had them))
it was a very nice little town.
but the wife and i really aren't into a "night" life so, i guess i could have completely missed the other parts of town.
I'm in Lancaster, but could take a drive down there for a night.
Is it going to be an over 21, hang out, have some drinks, and shoot pool or a mountain dew drinking, get-together for talking about WoW characters?
I would vote for the first option, because don't play WoW, and I wouldn't know what to talk about.

no, we went for the rustic and stayed at a small home with like 6 rooms, a bed and breakfast establishment. the house was like 120 yrs old or something like that.
it's been about 5 yrs since we did that.

Dude, come on a weekend night while the weather's still not too cold, the chiquitas pack the sidewalks too and fro.
Not being of drinking age hurts, but many of the cooler places on Main St. have huge outdoor areas where you can sit and watch the guuuuurls go by.
Or go hang out at Love Saves the Day, the funky, freaky head shop plus store. Display your Grateful Dead dancing bears, you'll connect!
After, wander (just walk!) accross the bridge into Lambertville, go off the main street to the smaller bars, and try to get served!
New Hope was founded as an artists's colony, and has a long history of being loose and wanting to have FUN! Inevitably, money and gentrification has moved in, and tourista'd out the burg in pllaces, but after the Jerseyites leave at dusk, the place still rocks.
Of course, many of the non-tourist artists have moved accross the bridge into Lambertville, which always was a working class town, but is now the truly funky, real life place to go --- just not for everyone, you know. Gentrification is just starting to hit there, too, but Lamberville is still teh cool.

Manyunk, should be easy enough for most to find. Parking is a problem, but that's true all over in Philly where we'd meet.
Manyunk has interesting, fairly hip little shops and stuff, the street is relatively cool for a stroll, and the bars and restaurants abound.
On a practical note, I am resigned to making our choice as "vanilla" as possible so as to not scare off the more heisitant peeps. Where Howard Johnson when you need him?
