Let's do this!

I'm serious, I think we should form an ATOT Olympic Curling team.

I've never done this before, and I heard is it quite challenging, so your safety is not guaranteed. You do need to bring your own brooms.

If you guys want to do this, we'll need to come up with a team name, and register ourselves with the IOC. As for practice, we'll just do it a few hours before the actual game.

Who's in?

Edit: thanks to HN, we now have a team name. Anandtech Curling National Team (or ACuNT for short). Spread the word :awe:

I'll join. I don't have any experience in actual "curling" per se, but every time I see a janitor sweeping a hallway, I invariably start screaming "HARD, HARD!," and I think that should satisfy any prerequisites.

Just remember that curlers are super intense about their sport, and no I'm not making that up. :D

I've been doing a shitload of practicing. All of it is 12 oz curls though. Is that OK? I still remember how to do heavier curling if that's what's called for, although I haven't gone above 16 oz since college.

So, are you in? Think of the headline man ”...a bunch of ATOTers woke up one day and decided that they too, can be Olympic champions...”
Oh hell yeah, we can drink beer during practice right? I'd suggest some whiskey, scotch, etc. but this sport seems too pedestrian for that.

I've had my avatar as a curling stone for over 4 years. I feel as though that's an automatic in.

I think the hard part is that you have to chug a beer and take a bong rip and hold it while you spin around 3 times before you can push the puck.

Do we have to provide our own dwarves?

I believe you are thinking of Bobsledding which is where 4 Jamaican guys ride a dwarf named Bob down a chute. I'm pretty sure there was some documentary about it back in the 90's.

I'm with you. I wish I could find a way to get into it. It is just intriguing to me.

There is open curling here at the local hockey rink where i live.
I have gone to it a couple of times.
You could be a master of this game in 2 months.
It is quite fun, its like playing bar suffleboard on a bigger scale.
Maybe i should round up some boys and get into a league. Truth be told, there were people there that took it very seriously. We were more interested in drinking beers and having a good time, similar to bowling.

Pretty sure I was promised dwarves in 10 gallon hats with tiny lances. :colbert:

So, I actually watched the curling when I got home, and I recend my requirement of having experience. At worst, you can be a broomer. They just listen to what the other people are shouting and follow those instructions.

Also, I have to say this sport looks incredibly easy. It's like bowling, but for weaklings that can't pick up a 13lb ball.
