I need to dig out all of my old vinyl and digitize it. Although, the stuff I really liked I transfered to cassette but then you get the "hiss" in addition to the snap, crackle, pop - bonus.
I keep thinking I might have some shit that's collectible but every time I've checked I've been disappointed. There is however some pretty offbeat shit- like a bunch of Wax Trax artists - My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, RevCo (Revolting Cocks), etc.
A vinyl was passed down to me from my father. While he was serving in the Navy during Vietnam, he purchased an album in Germany.
It was The Beatles White Album, in white vinyl, German pressed. Years later he played it only once to record it with cassette. He also gave me that cassette when he gave me the record. I still have both of them of course, though no more cassette player, lol.
I have yet to ever play the vinyl. I keep it it in new, pristine condition inside a UV-protective, moisture-proof, clear hard plastic single record case. The case can be hung on the wall, but I choose to keep it in storage. I'd be a bit soul-crushed if anything happened to it now.
IDK if it's monetarily valuable or not, don't really care. It's invaluable to me for sentimental reasons.
