More progress on my drywall today. Had to reroute a few cables first, trying to reduce the amount of areas cables come out of just so I can centralize the exits. So that took a bit of time. Taking a wine break then will go hang one last sheet and one inside wall will be officially done. The hardest one. Rest will get easier from this point on.

All this so I can move my firewood indoors. That's really what prompted this since the location I want to put it is right up against the server room wall and I knew this had to be done anyway so made sense to do it first.

Still debating on how I finish the inside of the server room. I can try to do a good job plastering so I hardly need to sand, or I can put some kind of border at all the seams and call it good. I'm kinda tempted to just plaster it and hope for the best. It doesn't need to look super good in there I just want it at least semi finished. Ceiling will stay open, no point in covering it as it will be a pain to run wires.

How will you keep the bugs from crawling out of the wood pile and into your warm and cozy server room?

Wood will be on the opposite side. Although bugs can still be an issue especially termites or carpenter ants... I don't think we have termites here, but we do have carpenter ants. If bugs become an issue I might build a screened enclosure for it and only bring in a small amount of logs at a time. Although the more I bring in the better, as it will continue to season while inside. Last I checked my wood is sitting at around 20-25 and ideally should be below 15%.

@bigboxes - I'm a junkie at heart so it's best that I stay away from that stuff.

But there is an opiate that doesn't get me high - tapentadol. It's synthetic so I think technically it's an opioid not opiate. It's not FDA approved in the US so you have to import. Great stuff and I'd take it every day were it not for some odd and annoying side effects. But I wouldn't read too much into that. My side effect issues seem to depart from the norm.

Plus in NJ they're really cracking down.
Opiate/Opioid. I just don't like how I react to it. I suppose it's a good thing. I had to watch my late wife get stuck on that crap. She would do opioids because they're legal drugs. I kept trying to get her to try cannibis. I figured it would do lot more than the opioids, without all the bad side effects. Better benefits. But no. That would be doing drugs. It was how she was raised. So, I was given oxycodone. Figured I would only take it if the pain was severe. Thankfully, I haven't had more pain than I could deal with.

I used use ketoprofen. I think it's still legal OTC but good luck finding it anywhere.

Right now, I'm happy with combo of Ibuprofen and acetaminophen. There's an Advil version.

Just make sure you have a plan to get off them once you are ready. I think the trick, with pretty much any drug, is to wean off. If you quit cold turkey that's where it's bad.

Done for today, getting there. Hardest part is done I'd say. Working on the hot aisle side and even the cold aisle wall was tricky. The other inside walls will be a bit easier, and the outside walls will be easy too. Just a lot of outlets to cut in... I went a little overboard with those.

Rerouted a few data cables today too just to minimize wall penitrations and setup a "duct" for power and one for data. There's a few wires I just left and cut in anyway, they'll be caulked in and will not run anymore through there. The ducts will be for future runs. I'll just stuff a garbage bag in there or something. Goal is to make the room as air tight as possible since cold air will be forced in and the hot air will ideally go down that duct and into wood stove room. May as well just put all the heat in one place. :p There will be a 6' duct in that room that will either connect to furnace or just dump the air into crawlspace, have not decided yet.

Think tomorrow I'll work on sealing up the long wall, so I can insulate it and add the drywall to the other side. Once that's done at least I can put the firewood there and not have to move it.

Once the server room is walled in then I'll go back to working on wood stove. Just need to cut cement board that will go where the pipe is, put that in, move all that stuff again and then start figuring out the exact location of the stove and move it in it's place, then do the inside chimney part.

Hopefully the contractor will get back to me for the outside part this year... I found another contractor and he sounds more reliable but he's just very busy with big jobs.

Once this is fully enclosed I will have to get used to the quietness. So used to hearing the servers as white noise in the house. It's faint from upstairs but do hear it.

You should hide skeletons in the walls.

Been meaning to make a time capsule actually, I should get on that before I run out of walls to put it in. I have the garage to do too. I'm thinking I would just take a bunch of pictures from around town and have them printed, and maybe throw in a newspaper or something.

For now, I just wrote "you lost the game" on the inside of the wall. I also have "Epstein didn't kill himself" in another area that's already enclosed. lol

Too late. They already took over the servers.

At some point I need to do a full network shutdown and actually open up the servers to clean them. Having this room enclosed is going to help a lot for dust so it will be a good time to start clean after 10ish years of being in the open. I bet it's nasty in the servers now lol. I'm sure there's lot of dead spiders, ear wigs and other bugs.

Before I do that I need to setup a proper KVM console setup though. The few times I had to do a shut down it was always nerve wracking since if a server doesn't come back for any reason there's now easy way to troubleshoot.

Two of the cats are facing off, growling at each other. They aren't going to escalate because they might get hurt. They aren't going to back down because, hey, what else have they got to do all day? What they are doing is being annoying as hell. Nef.

Last night at like 10pm I just got super tired suddenly so went to bed, ended up sleeping until like 1pm. No idea what that was about but still feeling kind of groggy now. Wonder if my body is fighting off something.
