I don't miss commuting to downtown at all. Remote gigs only.
That's what puzzles me. I know that a lot of folks around here have to be in IT. And I can't believe that substantial portion don't commute to work every day.

At the same time though, there has been a few villages worth of housing built in the past 5 years or so and most of it seems to high density - condos, apts and such.

So in reality things might be much worse than I care to imagine.

Quick traffic story. I suspect that with a lot of peeps buying EVs and hybrids, they're finally getting a taste of what real acceleration feels like.

So today, I'm behind this newish looking Accord hybrid. Light changes. Guy starts to pull away at a good clip.

I was like, ah, yoo vish to play, Mein Herr? Vell then, vee shall play.

Downshift to second, redline, shift to third, still at around 5k, boom, I'm on his bumper. Of course I immediately backed off, but that was very satisfying - having my 16 yo putt putt show some muscle.

Of course a high end Tesla will still leave me in the dust with my dick in my hand.

The '08 Civic Si can be a pain in the ass because it has such narrow gear spacing, but sweet bjesus is it fun to wind up.

Oops. I tend to over explain so collapsed 2 encounters. The one with the downshift was later. I kinda fumbled a bit at the light.

I work with offshore dev teams and local clients. Meetings are all Google meet so where I am makes zero difference.

Wish my work would let us work from home full time, there's no reason to be in an office when our job is doable from home. At least we're still on hybrid so there's that. Probably lose that next union agreement renewal though, I'm sure they'll push to get us back full time.

Tell them they'll save a lot of electricity and water

I brought up that the lights use around 24kw (I actually calculated it lol). Their response is they are looking at changing them all to LED but the light fixtures, hvac venting, and ceiling as a whole is all an integrated system so they have to change it all out at a cost of over a mil. Or just let us work from home? Take that 1mil and give us a bonus or something instead. Yeah that would never happen.

That makes zero sense. No one bundles light with HVAC.

It's a really oddball office ceiling system, probably from like the 70's. those triangle parts are actually the air ducts. I can't see why they can't just keep the fixtures and put LED T8 retrofit bulbs though as that seems like the simplest solution.

Fixture retrofitting is a thing. And those lights are accessible even if it is through the ducts. But chances are you can just remove it from below.

Hand sliced pepperoni, sliced onions, whole milk mozzarella, tomato sauce. Garlic buttered crust. Fresh grated parmesan.
