Night shift nef.

On my new work PC now. Old one died last night. NTLDR is missing. Kapout! My new PC was mostly ready but it too, would randomly crash, they swapped out the video card and now it SHOULD be good..

Not a fan of win10 but guess I'll have to get used to it. I don't really want to mess with stuff like Classic Shell on a work computer so leaving it as is.

Well, hopefully its not dog dog slow anymore.

Yeah this one is a bit faster, for now. I'm sure it will get slow over time as patches and other crud continue to accumulate over time. They are basically the same machine but slightly newer. We finally have a half decent amount of ram now though, 16GB. I remember when they were trying to push machines with 4GB a few years ago, we literally could not run all our stuff and had to immediately get them upgraded.

WTH there's no Telnet in Windows anymore? Assuming there is a way to install it but stupid that it's not just there by default. I probably need admin access for that. Guess I'll just use putty.

Programs and features->Turn Windows features on and off-> check off telnet.
Surprised you are not using SSH.

Haha most of the stuff we have at work predates SSH. But yeah if it was up to me I'd be setting up local SSH terminals at each device. Even a Raspberry Pi with a serial connection would do the trick, as most of these devices tend to have TTY ports anyway. Some things are dialup only, but we're a freaking ISP, there's no reason why we can't put a small IP switch off a T1 or something to have management interfaces for equipment. ISPs don't like spending money on capital though.

Warm at 15C, but rainy, and I have a bunch of errands to run today - so in and out of the rain. BooHoo.
I keep thinking I want to move to AZ when I retire, 'cept it hot as hell in the summers there.
Would be good for my slowly progressing arthritis, allergies and asthma.
