Yeah it did. Typical capitalist stuff, cheap out on everything as much as possible to maximize profits. I don't know why I still crave it sometimes though. It's not nececerily BAD, it's just not GOOD. Like the coffee I make at home from grinding my own beans is better. But Timmy's is also better than say, brewing Folgers or something.

DSLR or mirrorless?

Your first camera should probably be a user friendly compact. IF you decide you need more functions you can sell it on ebay and buy what you really want. I started with a Sony P50 and moved up over the years eventually getting the Nikon D40 and finally a Canon T3.
Now that I know what I do I'm going with a high end mirrorless like a Fuji XT3.
