I got my ignition coil connectors in the mail from China this week. Saturday morning seems like the right time to replace them. It was 108F yesterday. So, getting out there before it gets too hot is imperative.

The kit came with the connector, a white locking mechanism and new insulators and terminals. I'm not going to do a complete rebuild so I will not be using the insulators and terminals. Just reusing the old ones. The plastic deteriorates after 10+ years. I broke all of them as I was giving the car it's first tune-up a couple of years ago.

I had one snafu today when I was putting back on the connectors. The plastic inside the connector end of the number 2 ignition coil broke off as well. Luckily, I got my new ignition coils in as well. I will be replacing those next.

Well, I was wrong about the ignition coil's plastic breaking. It was the old locking mechanism (white thingy) that had transferred from the connector to the ignition coil. I was replacing them anyways. But first I decided to check the spark plugs. Good thing I did! The gap was twice the recommended gap. Got four new iridium plugs. Receipt had a $10 mail-in-rebate. Nice! Did it all online.

Here's the new ignition coil next to the old one. Different part number, but compatible. Took a lot to get that information. The dealer wanted $110 for one new ignition coil. I got four of the compatible ones for $60. This time they are the same length.

Tune up complete. Replaced ignition coils, connectors and spark plugs for about $100 total. No more missing!
