Mowed lawn, moved some lumber from back of my truck, now covfefe and lunch time. Will then continue on my deck by around 1-2. I try to skip peak of day as that's highest risk for sunburn.

You are ginger. Even middle of the night is high risk sunburn for you.

I had to call out again today. Need to take care of coolant leak in car. I thought it was water. Put a pan under the leak last night. This morning I checked on it and it was coolant. Put some UV dye in the radiator this morning. You guessed it. No leaks after I did that. *grumble grumble* Changing the water pump and putting on a new belt. I hope that fixes it.

Oh that sucks and is a bad time! That's usually expensive too especially if they need to drain/fill it.

Heat waves like this make me think about whether I should consider redundancy in my setup. It would royally suck not having A/C right now.

Taking a break from working on the deck, stained the cut ends for some joists so going to give that some time to dry. Then I can finish the framing.

This entire deck would be a 1 day job by a pro, but I am not a pro, and I cannot tolerate heat, so it's slow going.

Ok off back to work I go... I just need to screw in those joists and think I will call it a night. Sun won't be as strong at this time so it will go faster.

I hope it does not rain tomorrow like they say it will. I will be able to pretty much finish it tomorrow I think. The wall/railing and stuff I will wing though and it depends how much lumber I have left over and if there is any in stock anywhere right now. I might just leave it as a platform and the bare posts sticking out for the time being.

I use it year round. You use it too to clear the winshield of condensation.

Oh vehicle AC for some reason I thought you meant house. But that said my truck's AC died too and I recently had to get that fixed. Around $600. Kind of glad I did with this crazy heat wave. It seems these +30's are the new norm now which sucks. Way too freaking hot.

Deck progress:

Framing mostly done. I still need to do around the gas meter, but I am getting the gas company to raise it so it will be easier. They're coming tomorrow.

Woah looks like this might be a big one.

Issued at 22:14 Monday 27 July 2020

At 10:14 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail.

Isolated severe thunderstorms are developing this evening.

Locations of severe thunderstorms:

- 42 kilometres northeast of Smooth Rock Falls
- just south of Cochrane
- moving east at 35 km/h.

Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts and nickel size hail.

###

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.

Looking at radar looks like the more northern cities got hit. Kapuskasing, Cochrane and that general strip on highway 11. We just got a little tail end that was sticking out.

Vehicle ac is very important in North Texas. Frreaking brutal without it. When I was 18, I had a Mustang and the ac didn't really work. I just rode around with the windows rolled down. Those were cool days. But that was a long time ago.
