worst they can say is NO. so why not?
Yeah I may go see it first to see if it's an area I'd like and I might go for it. It's a HUGE purchase and I will be in an insane amount of debt for the foreseeable future, but land is something that lasts forever. I have a feeling being able to buy land like this is not always going to be possible so rather secure something now than wait too long.

So my 2 trees are completely gone, they came today to finish the one in front and do one in back that was dying and about to fall on the house. Just need to chop up into smaller pieces and split and bring it to my parents' for firewood. Around 2k later.... $1,800 plus tax. They will come back another time to do the stumps. Part of me thinks I should have just put more work into doing it myself but another part of me says it was probably for the best to hrie it out and not risk it, especially one in the back.

I'm really trying to pay down my credit line which seems to only grow instead of being paid down, so I decided to just empty my savings for this one. Had about 2k in there.

I might end up maxing out that credit line though if I buy property... going to go check one out in the next few days when I'm off and if I don't see any red flags I will put an offer.

I feel I need to hurry up and at least secure a piece of land if I plan to live off grid in the future or even just want a camp. With UN Agenda 2030 I don't think this will always be possible. But hopefully existing land will get grandfathered.

I warmed up my coffee so many times if I add up the cost of hydro to run the microwave that cup probably cost almost as much as a Starbucks!

It finally slowed down now.

The trouble with the maples
And they're quite convinced they're right
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade?

I don't really have a before for the back one but it can kinda be seen in these pics from when I was building my shed:

And bonus pic of solar panels, back when I apparently used to get haircuts. :p (actually I think I had decided to start growing it out around that point)

Just priced a Dell R7515 with an Epyc 7402P 24core 2.8GHz, 64GB ram for just under C$6k

Tempting.

With a server like that I assume you'd be running VMs, that means you need at least 3 servers for a proper cluster. (only 2 can cause split brain so you wait uneven number)

You'll also want a SAN. May as well throw in a 10 gig switch for iSCSI. :p

TBH when I get to a point where I have money to throw at newer hardware I'm kind of eyeing Ryzen for servers, it might not be "server grade" but most of the boards for that platform can take 64GB of ram. 3 of those systems would be quite a nice setup compared to my single server with 32GB of ram.

I THINK Ryzen boards might even do ECC but I'm not positive.

I want to play around with Proxmox. When I first tried it it had lot of weird quircks but I'd imagine it's better now.

Facebook changed their interface and they basically copied Twitter lol. Either one bought the other and they're all the same company now, or there is going to be a lawsuit in the making.

No ecc for ryzen. For homelab one server is plenty.

I guess I can wait for the off lease Epyc Romes to show up on used market
