Picked up some wings today for lunch. While there I noticed a game on tv. I thought it was just a replay of some old game. Turns out that it was a video game. Wild. So desperate for content. I pretty much leave the tv off most of the time during the Pandemic of 2020. Any of you geeks watch this? I love sports, but watching other gamers play video sports? Pass.

Yup, NASCAR will be airing "eSports" driving games with their drivers.
I think I heard that the NBA will be airing a HORSE league.

40cm of snow on the way. Glad I'll be working from home again for next 2 days so don't have to worry about dealing with that in the morning. Need to start working at the office after that though but at least the storm should be over by then.

I didn't go with the fastest module. It's just a for portable storage. I would guess this NVMe drive will saturate the USB bus with no problem.

I peeled off this sticker so that I could place the thermal pad directly on the chips. Then placed the heatsink on the thermal pad.

The device was not recognized by the included cable. Too bad, because the new cable was a USB 3.1 ver 2 cable. But my computers' various ports would not recognize the device. Had to resort to an older cable that only had USB 2.0 with fast charging. I have no other type A to type C cables so I ordered a new one. I want the faster transfer speeds. I'm looking into an internal card. You can see how small it is. Relatively lightweight. Anodized aluminum with some nice heatsinks into the case.

I am just copying my Rock music over. The drive is not big enough to hold all of my stuff. I will have to decide what gets left out. It's still there on the home server. I can always Plex for anything. However, sometimes bandwidth is lacking in remote areas or with public wifi. It will be nice having my data local on my next road trip! And yeah... that transfer speed sucks.

Post your album list; we'll help you pick. :p

All the rock will be on there. I just have to decide what else. I think I have 1.99TB on the server. About 1.18TB on a internal drive on my main rig. The NVMe only holds 1.81TB formatted.

That must have cost a pretty penny. Isn't it kinda pointless to use a SSD over USB though? I guess it's still nice for the small form factor and not needing external power.

So seems switching NFS to async mode fixed pretty much all my network issues... I still need to eventually get off of it because running in async mode is not ideal, but at least it's a working bandage for now. Even one of my VMs that was acting so bad it had to be rebooted nightly does not need to be rebooted nightly anymore. No dmesg errors or nothing and performance is normal.
