Yeah if you're lucky enough to come across them at a decent price. Shipping is often the killer. I don't even bother looking at Ebay anymore. But there's always Dell outlet etc.

Is there something I'm missing with this platform, seems the ram capacity is rather low?

8 slots, and it only supports 16GB? That can't be right?

Up to 2TB ram with 128gb dimm x 16

512GB of ram is more than enough for home. :p

Actually my current VM server has 32GB. It's the max the board will take. I do want to build 2 more at some point and go to 64GB though. Project for later. Lot of $$$.

32gb ddr4 ecc rdimm are like C200 each new. Not too horrible.
Used should be a plenty.

Yeah ram prices are back to being decent. It's the overall cost of a system that is a lot when you go server grade. Not exactly in the market now, but I need to try to keep an eye out on Dell outlet etc, might find good deals on used. I usually build new since there's nothing used in my area and shipping from the states costs too much.

Great to sleep in. Installed a new hood emblem yesterday evening. Next up, new microphone for the Alpine.

Not engine badge. Hood emblem of Toyota logo. I had ordered a new one when I got all the other parts. They sent me the wrong one. It came directly from China so I had to wait for the new one. I figured out the one they originally sent me was for a newer Corolla.

Got the Alpine unit out. Used my fiberglass pull rods to fish the mic jack from the floor through the back of the dash. Plugged in the mic to the head unit, reinserted the Alpine and now I'm ready to test out the mic to see where I want to place it.

Lightning just torched a neighbor's palm tree, nice big ball of flame. The fire fighters are soaking the house down to kep the falling, flaming fronds from taking it out. All in the midst of dumping rain.
