Bears are not really a big deal and are to be expected in the bush. Ticks are more serious though and we have those here now.... probably would want to do the land clearing and stuff in winter, or at least fall when it's cold enough to cover myself.

Of course I'd want to bear proof any buildings I build though, probably don't want windows that are easily accessible to bears in case they try to get in. They will make a huge mess if they get in since they panic and just start wrecking everything.

I hate windows 10. It's just so convoluted. Trying to figure out why this laptop is so bloody slow. It runs like a Vista machine. It does not even appear to have any kind of spyware or anything of that nature, it's new. It's just so freaking slow. I think I'm just going to format and put windows 7 and see if it improves things.

Apparently, I've been lucky. Win10 has been basically trouble free. I'm not saying it's perfect. It's no better or worse than Win7.x.

However, Vista was the only OS that I upgraded before I just killed/scrapped as system.

Gonna have to go for a drive and check this property out when I'm feeling better.

OVER 26 ACRES ON HENWOOD LAKE. MIXED FOREST WITH SPRUCE AND PINE. YEAR ROUND HIGHWAY ACCESS WITH DRIVEWAY INTO SMALL SHED. LOTS OF WILD LIFE SEEN ON THE PROPERTY INCLUDING BEAR, MOOSE, DEER, WOLF, LYNX, ETC. LOTS OF CROWN LAND IN THE AREA, THIS COULD BE A GOOD BASE FOR THOSE HUNTING & FISHING TRIPS. HYDRO & PHONE AT THE ROAD. UNORGANIZED TOWNSHIP WITH LOW PROPERTY TAXES AND NO ZONING OR BUILDING PERMITS REQUIRED. BUILD WHAT YOU WANT. (id:19037485)

It's also river front. Quite a lot of frontage actually. 50k so a bit more than I want to pay for a property but this is first one that ticks most of my wish list. A bit further south than I want though, like 2 hours from here... but still not bad. Phone access is actually a bonus. I don't care so much about any utilities being available but this will make things easier. Imagine I could get DSL too.

It's got MOOSE and you're the squirrel. I'd beware of Boris and Natasha.

That was random. Was about to go for a quick walk to get some air and this huge torrential downpour starts out of nowhere. So much for that lol. Seems to have stopped though.

Checking out Google Maps street view scouting out the area of the property I am looking at.

Moose antlers on the post office, talk about a small town charm. LOL. Hey at least there *IS* a post office. I think my shed is bigger. There's a general store and a LCBO too. I'm pretty much all set.

Hopefully I can get rid of this cold at some point and go check out this property.

So I got a bug up my ass about the Win 10 lock screen images on my work computer. I wanted to have my own images instead of the standard MS image of the day thing. I went to Settings and found that the IT folks decided that users shouldn't be allowed to change to slideshow or add image folders to the lock screen. Then I got curious about where Win 10 stored the default images and found them. Then I made curious discovery. The IT folks allowed us peon write access to the that directory. So I started experimenting. First I added my own images to the directory. Nothing. Then I moved all of the MS images to another directory leaving only my own images there. Nope, the MS images still showed up on lock. I figured there must be another cache in the system so I searched on one of the MS image names. The search returned the file I had found and four shortcuts to it plus an internet link. Apparently, MS is so determined to show you its images that if you were an awful person who would do such things as to delete their images, Win 10 will go out and retrieve the image from the net so that you can still experience the wonderfulness of MS.

You feeling better?

Ears and nose still blocked on and off, feel like head is stuffed. These colds then to last weeks for me so this is just the beginning. What sucks is it's setting back all my projects. Only get so many days in summer to work on stuff. Summer is already 1/3rd done.

Seems a lot of people's kids are graduating grade 12 this year. This makes me feel old because these are all kids I remember seeing as little kids running around, or even as babies.

Yeah heard this too. I guess it's good they found it... but this is sure going to bring down the overall confidence of that plane even more not to mention delay them even more. Sucks for the airlines that own them, they've been grounded since and nothing they can do until all the problems are figured out and patched and that it's deemed safe. Wonder if they get any compensation from Boeing. They should at least be able to trade it in for a different model. Just bring it back to the dealership. 😛

I wonder if you were to bank 180 if it would then continue to fly normally. Maybe that's the problem all along, the sensor that tells it to put the nose down is just installed backwards!

Randomly decided to test my smoke detectors since it just occurred to me that the "10 year battery" is probably about up to it's 10 year mark. Time flies...

They worked, but now they appear to be chirping... making it go off as a test may have drained the last life it had left and now they're going into low battery lol.

Going to wait a little to see if it stops. I should probably consider replacing them soon anyway.
