Went to start working on my ethereum mining case in the garage. Moved some stuff like tires and lawnmower into the shed as they take up a lot of space. After continuously realizing that I left a tool somewhere in the house and having to go back and forth each time, I just realized I didn't feel like it. Spent a good hour screwing around just doing that stuff. It's also really cold to work in, even with the propane heater since it's not insulated. I suppose the CO inhalation didn't help my motivation. :p

I really can't wait to finish the garage into a proper shop where I can have all my tools organized in one place, and have it heated. Might also put a door so that I can get to it from inside the house. Hopefully next year, or even this summer. Building the shed was the first phase of that so I can make room in the garage. Will finish that off this summer and if that goes well do the garage too. At very least need to redo the floor, insulate the walls, build a ceiling, insulate that, then even if I have no hvac at first at least I can let the propane heater run for a bit and it will actually heat up the area then turn it off to actually go do work. May even put a sub floor so I can insulate that, and have a full thermal envelope. The ceiling is actually about 10 feet, so I can actually afford to lose a bit of height.

Very cool. Except for the mining. :D

My wife made it through the event and didn't start feeling bad until we pulled up in at home. Didn't each much and didn't win anything. At least 4 of my coworkers won twice.

I couldn't seem to get used to the 2DS controls. I went to a local pawn shop and found a "New" 3DS XL in great shape that's been sitting on the shelves there for months. Got it down to $95. Going to mod it tonight. The controls on it are far more ergonomic.

Funny what coffee and a bowl of chips will do. Got the motivation to go back and work in the cold garage and started on the case. Forgot to buy some 1" screws, all the screws I have are too long so right now I just placed the pieces how they will go. Banana for scale.

It will sit on some universal L rackmount rails that came with a SAN. They seem to be the most versatile solution for custom cases bought ones that don't come with rail kits.

I'll wait until I get my risers before I put the card support so I can get the height right. This will hold 2 psus, motherboard, and 6 cards. Though 6 cards in 5U feels super inefficient, I might look to see if I can fit 8 but they will be kinda close together. I don't plan to have more than 2 cards for a while but figure I will future proof this as best as I can.

I'm a huge procrastinator though as I should have started this like 3-4 days ago. I start night shifts tomorrow so won't really get to touch it for a week or so. Though I'll try to at least go get the screws tomorrow so I have them on hand.

Will most likely paint it black. Black, combined with loud fans makes computers go faster.
