You need a tow battery pack just for the heater. When the wife is driving.
You're not kidding. We have some free and fast public chargers near us and she went to plug in from 0 miles while she shopped. She got a 20 mile charge out of it and drove 6 miles home, blasting the heater I'm sure, putting it to 0 miles when she pulled into the driveway. We got a half tank of gas in there, but cmon!

We have "Volta" chargers near us, which puts ads on the screens and talks companies into installing them in their parking lots to attract EV customers who will spend more time in their stores. Win-win for us since it's by the office store, grocery store and a couple department stores that we frequent.

Speaking of the volt, this guy in a city not far from me tested one out in the cold.

https://transportevolved.com/2014/0...-chevy-volt-drives-in-a-hard-canadian-winter/

Did half decent! Did not realize these also had a gas engine though, is it direct drive or just act as a generator? Seems to me it would make sense if they put an engine that simply acts as a generator that way it can run at a constant speed and basically do "MPPT". Gas engines have a very specific speed/load at which they are the most efficient.

Cool to know, finally someone did it. I always found the idea of hybrids silly as they are more complicated than they have to be. It's so much simpler to have it full electric, and just have a generator if you want more range.

I was sold on it years ago when it was introduced, definitely couldn't drop 40+k on a car. I love the electric drive mode. After driving this it feels like a combustion-driven drivetrain is like using a corded telephone.

Yeah I'd love to go electric eventually, I just can't justify the cost of a new car, and there arn't any on the used market, at least not here. Heck even on the new market I don't hear of anyone here who has one. That video I linked is the first I hear of someone in my area with one. I'm sure there are others though.

This engine doesn't seem to rev up too much even with being pushed. It's VERY specific though. Premium only and tuned for that octane gas. Running regular gas apparently makes the car sound really rough.

Well, this has been an interesting evening. Did all the paperwork on the rebate for the rifle. $150 is nice. Site said 8-10 weeks until they send me a check. Attending a CHL class all day tomorrow on my day off. To a shooting range to complete the qualification.

Bought tickets to see Willie Nelson tomorrow evening at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth. Last second means that I had to purchase through a ticket broker. Boxes is feeling sore in the backdoor. Always wanted to see Willie before he kicked the bucket. Here's hoping he lives through tomorrow's show.

Copied the Top 100 (pop music) for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 to the backup drive and file server. It's been a while since I've worked on all my data.

Migrated my data from my Other Video drive from a 1.5TB drive to a 2TB drive this last week. Tonight, I installed the larger drive into the file server. Changed the drive letter. Then went back to another computer on the network and couldn't connect to it. Took me a while, but figured out that I had to add "Everyone" to the permissions list.

Installed new printer. Then I had to share it across the network and add it to the other users (wife).

Had to figure out why the rebuilt file server was not responsive. Changed the power setting in the file server from "Balanced" to "Performance". That solved that issue.

Finally, the new printer was not waking up after sitting idle. Found the setting to fix that issue.

This after a day/week at work. :)
