night shift 1/4 in progress. Of course the department web server was down because of the forced reboots. I know how to disable that but I think it would raise red flags. Basically it's a windows box with a windows VM in it but when it shuts down the VM shuts down hard. I need to figure out a better way for this as once I'm done my database system we'll rely on this more. I may just write a script to disable the reboots (basically terminate and disable a few services) then when I'm on shift I can manually turn on those services like once a week to let the reboots happen so it does not raise any flags. But at least it would be more controlled as I can properly shut down the VM.
It's tempting to just put Linux directly on that machine but not sure if the network connectivity would work, they have weird stuff going on this network where you need to be a windows machine that is on the domain for the networking to work.
Took a couple of walks today. Took and the missus to see Cars 3. Now, helping her plan her road trip. She's leaving tomorrow. Right now, she's outside on the phone.
