Funny. This morning my Cherry G80-3000 died. It may just be the usb cable. Last time I had to replace a Cherry cable I had to get one through a member on Geekhack. It's my backup keyboard. Have it hooked up now. I so love these Cherry branded boards. Simple, clean, accurate, reliable. I may be in the market soon for a new keyboard. I'd like to hear your review of the K70 LUX.
So far it's great. I got it in Cherry MX brown and it seems to be a nice balance between feedback and noise. The wrist rest is really nice and the backlighting (red) is adjustable. The software it comes with is okay, but I don't much care to have my keyboard flashing goofy effects at me so I just keep it on normal backlight mode (which is adjustable low/med/high/off). The extra gaming caps it comes with are a nice touch, not sure if I will use them or not because I prefer to keep the standard keys on. I am still getting used to the keyboard so I make more typing mistakes than I used to, but I used my old keyboard for about 7 years so I'm sure I just need to get used to it. The aluminum frame/deck is really nice and very sturdy, keyboard feels really good to type on as it does not flex at all and the keystrokes feel really precise (but I was using a cheap membrane keyboard before). One minor complaint is the keys that have more than one symbol being backlit (ie. the number row) are not backlit consistently as the LED is at the top of the keys, so the number 1 is backlit but the exclamation point is not very bright on the same key. A pretty minor complaint. The media keys and volume roller are something I can't believe I did without. The USB passthrough is another thing I really like. The windows lock out key is a good idea. Apparently you can program any key you want to do anything (macros etc.) I haven't played with that yet and not sure if I will bother. Overall I am very happy with it, thankfully I got it on sale. If I had to pay full price it is still a really good keyboard but kind of expensive (but it does look/feel expensive too).
