As requested in the anime thread :)
Some of these pics are dated, but gives you the general idea (so lazy to take updated pics).

Ack of the eyeball math says 16x8 GB == 128 GB of storage :damnnothumbsupemoji:
Yessir. 128TB in TX, replicated to another 128TB server in IA :D
That figure doesn't take into account other misc storage either (backups, working/scratch drives, etc.)

These same cases started out waaaaay back in the day with ~12x (maybe slightly more, don't recall offhand)
WD "DriveZilla" 200GB IDE HDDs running on dual P3s with maybe 1GB of RAM?
Absolutely laughable compared to what we have nowadays :)

That being said, there are setups in the HardForum storage showoff threads that make mine look like redneck engineering :

I mean, look at this mofo!

Those Supermicros 24 bays are nice. I only have one though. :p

They're so freaken expensive though, like over a grand for just the case! The Norcos are cheaper but they don't come with anything and have a good chance of getting a DOA backplane so by the time you deal with all that you end up paying just as much.

The "48 Drives" Backblaze pods look nice too, but you'd want at least two of them so you can do some kind of mirroring, as I don't think you can hot swap drives in those.

My current setup is only 19TB but I could get more if I started adding bigger drives.

Yup, was trying to recall your username when making my post earlier.
You're the only one I know of on AT with the same caliber of storage setup :)

Yeah seems everyone is doing the cloud stuff now. That's ok, when the internet apocalypse happens we'll be the only ones that will be continue to binge watch episodes or work on projects while everyone is fiddling their thumbs because all their stuff is on some server somewhere that they can't access. :p

F*ck the cloud. Seriously.

I might technically be a friggin' millenial, but if I don't have a copy on a HDD I own or on optical media sitting on a shelf,
I don't have _real_ access to it.

Besides, storage ain't as expensive as it once was.

Incredible. Saw the P183 in the other photo. Do you have all those drives in a RAID array or JBOD? I saw your screen cap. How much of that 128TB of storage are you using? What else besides Anime and J-Pop do you have? So, you have one 128TB server in Dallas and another 128TB backup in Iowa. Is that just a copy or do you do regular backups to the Iowa server?
