I have about 1000rds of .308 already available to me, so i'd prefer to stick with that.

there are several 7mm rifle cartridges.

.308 is 7.8mm technically.

.338 is nice, but I don't have any on hand AND I don't really need a rifle that is accurate out to 1,500 yards...

.308 is generally good out to about 800 yards.

the common 7mm is the Remington.
But theres about 10 other versions as well.

Will have to handle one in person to see how it feels. So far I have only used an SSG 3000 .308 Winchester with 24" barrel. But I don't think I can afford that for myself. Though I may just end up saving up more for something like that if i cant find something cheaper that I like the feel of.

what i think it is. was thinking about the .300 but does not look like that anymore.

the old big game pc hunting games used to have some rifles that were said to use a 7mm cartridge. was supposed to be long ranged and flat. was not the .308 or the 30-06.
