hardwired?

To the CPU?

I'm in too deep there's
no way out
this time i have really lead myself astray

no, as in they are designed for one particular job and only does that particular job. No configuring. They can handle a few different configuration of memory, but again, what exist in them already.

There were a few CPUs with on board memory controller, Athlon was the most memorable one because that addition is what kicked Intel into high gear.

read the datasheet on the memory controller and see what it can handle.

THERE ARE NO DATA SHEETS!!!!

I have to figure this out all by hand, testing this, testing that. These are credit card terminals, so the data sheets are protected like nuclear launch codes. If I had a data sheet, I would have been done months ago.

can you help me remember how to smile?
make it somehow all seem worthwhile
how on earth did i get so jaded?
life's mysteries seem so faded
i can go where noone else can go
i know what no one else knows
here i am just drownin' in the rain
with a ticket for a runaway train

chances are there are checksums built into the circuit to prevent what you are trying to do

read it? Can't find it!

There are 16 (I don't know, I made that number up) on these boards. Figuring out which does what is nearly impossible. I've googled "identify memory controller" and read 100 sites, looked at 1000 pictures and I end up mad.
