Dricore is quite popular actually, it's 2'x2' waferboard tiles with a plastic backing.  It's used as a subfloor in a basement.  If you get a bit of water it will just go under.  It also acts as a thermal barrier so the floor feels much warmer.  
I used it because my floor is unworkable, it's very rough concrete that is very dirty.  You can't put anything on there as it would be uneven and anything glued/cemented in like tile would pull up. 
I'll probably end up using the dricore as my floor, might varnish it.  In the far future I can always put down a real floor.
