For one the amount of cheating that goes on is astounding. My father teaches in a college, he sees it all the time. Students from Asia are particularly prone to cheating. To them it's not a moral issue and they don't see the problem with it. Often it's sooooooo important for them to get an A++++++ that they will do anything for it. It's sad cause if they just aimed for a B or B+ they would actually learn something but it's been ingrained into their minds that anything but an A+ is an F and it doesn't matter how you get that A+.

I'm very slowly collecting vintage video game consoles. Would one day like to have a nice relatively complete collection of the greats.

You ask me why I hate Indians. This is one of the reason. If the TA is an Indian.. they expect good grades without putting any effort. They copy all the work.. and argue with the TA if he calls them out. Today.. I asked him to explain the code that he just turned in.. he could not even tell me how it works.

They say they are here only to get jobs, and not to study. Then why the fuck did they apply for MS? I fucking hate them.. and their attitude. The only reason they took this course is because.. the professor is easy on the grades. 90% of the students will get an A even if I give them no scores. If I tell the professor.. that a few are plagiarizing work.. guess what she said? She told me to go easy on them.. I just walked out of the room.

If you haven't already, bookmark bytecellar.com. I love that guy's blog entries and he has an awesome man cave of retro machines.

I have an Amiga 2000, but the Amiga 1000 holds a special place in my heart because I wanted one so badly when they came out in 1985. Everyone was so blown away by them. It is kind of fun being able to go back and buy these machines and expand them to your heart's content, which I couldn't really afford to do with my Amiga 2000 because I was a college kid. I've already added an accelerator card, Zip drive, and flickerfixer to it.

I've got my Amiga 2000 and Commodore 128 on my desk now. I built a cable to connect the Commodore to my plasma TV and the Amiga is cabled to the VGA port on my secondary monitor (the Dell 2001fp).

I was thinking more Chinese students lol. The "Tiger Mom" phenomenon has raised a generation of student who MUST get A+ and fuck how I get it.

Yeah you get that type of prof in every school. Kids need to be careful though. Plagiarism is taken VERY seriously at a lot of institutions, can easily get you kicked out for good if a charge sticks.

Chinese students are fine. I do not know about.. American born ones, but the fob Chinese are pretty damn hard working.

I can just see it now Commodore 64 on a 60in plasma. Awesome. :awe:

They are hard working but they will cheat too. Again it's this terrible fear they have that they will get anything but an A+. The risk of getting caught is worth it to them in their minds.

It's pretty sweet. I learned that Commodore's proprietary video connector (5 or 6 pin DIN connector) was actually just an s-video connection, so I was able to build an adapter to connect the Commodore 128 to the TV. I also do have a C64 (the old bullet-shaped case) but the keyboard is a little gimpy on it so I have my 128 hooked up instead.
