Robes are best for those who find their home too chilly in winter months to sit around in pajamas. I suspect that is not an issue in Georgia.

.

Robes are essential for roaming about immediately after a shower.

NE2-Gs are interesting. The phosphor has uranium to get the green color. MTBF is slightly lower than clear glass NE-2s too.

Why do people dry cars after washing them?
Isn't the wind enough from driving?

Nope. The wind would leave water streaks, which then dry into water spots. If you let the water stand and dry, it again produces water spots. If you want a clean finish, you have to dry it with a soft cloth.

Also, if you want to seal/wax the car after the wash, which is the best time to do it, you need the vehicle to be dry.

I am suddenly vividly reminded of going back to my high school after a week-long break in which I did nothing except sit at my computer and speak to no one.

It was a very interesting Monday. I recall walking up the stairs to go back to class after lunch, turning into the hallway, seeing so many people and hearing so much noise, and turning around and walking away.

Sounds like nit pickery to me! ;)

I don't get the obsession for it being clean. I mean it's a car.
