My father also found a set of $120 Graspic DS-3's that could fit his car.

In theory, we could end up with $200 + $120 + $20 (gas) + $50x2 (two mounts)... lightly used snow tires for both cars for under $500. It would cost over $500 to get new tires on just one car.
