Still no heat in the shed, but that's not necessary just yet... so effectively, it's finished. :awe:

Now if only I could say the same thing for my homework!

DI's waffle weave microfiber: 6 sq. ft., ostensibly 5x weight in water.
Viking's (through Amazon): 9 sq. ft., ostensibly 3x weight in water.

Half the cost though. :awe:

And 50% more material means 50% more weight, so 4.5x... so close enough. And I can get two of those for the cost of one from DI.

I have further inspected my paint. It's got some spotting on it, but that'll disappear with a good wash. The bigger issue is that the paint has lots of swirls, it might be a buffer, but it looks a bit more like hand swiping. Hand is probably easier to get rid of. It's tons of tiny marks, it doesn't look too extensive, but if you catch a decent bit of light on the car, it shows up very obviously. That'll take a really thorough and good polish to deal with.

I think $1000 of detailing supplies will end up paying for itself in a few years, and the equipment will last many years more than that, and the skills remain forever. Not that I have $1000.

I've trimmed a lot of cleaners off my list. The specialized bug and tar remover, the duplicate quick use spray, the buffer and its plate and twenty pads (there's a huge one), the polishes, the detail brushes, the wheel cleaners, the UV sealer, the glass cleaner, the leather care stuff.

I dug out an old composition notebook, and got it started. Used a razor, cut out the used pages in the front. Turn it over, spin it around, and from the back forwards, the notebook will be used to monitor maintenance of the I30t, Yukon XL, and Grand Am.

From the front backwards, the normal way, it will log the maintenance of my G35x. The separation is because my G35x now has an extended warranty, so somebody else might someday want to see the maintenance log. Nobody will want the stuff for the previous three cars.

183k, 108k, 104k, and 70k.

My first oil change will be around 73-74k miles.

I have put together a list of the five options I have regarding an HID retrofit. I am inclined to eliminate one of those options, because I do not want a low beam only, I want a full bi-xenon retrofit. However, the list, in order of ease of execution:

1) FX-R lower bay
2) TL lower bay
3) Morimoto upper bay
4) RX or TSX upper bay *low beam only*
5) FX-R upper bay

Sorted by cost:

1) Morimoto upper bay
2) FX-R upper bay
3) FX-R lower bay
4) RX or TSX upper bay
5) TL lower bay

In order of preference:

1) FX-R upper bay
2) Morimoto upper bay or TL lower bay
3) TL lower bay or Morimoto upper bay
4) FX-R lower bay
5) RX or TSX upper bay

In order of performance:

And it is the last category, combined with the physical possibility or impossibility of the fitments in upper bay (lower bay is easy, upper bay is tough) that will be the deciding influence.

I'll paint a pretty picture: the New England Patriots with Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald instead of Ochocino and... Slater.

Let's see...

QB: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, maybe Aaron Rodgers. The first two are obvious, and Rodgers forces D to respect the run.
RB: Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice. I know, there's some who tend to list as better than Rice, but reliable and powerful.
WR: Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Wes Welker. Is explanation really required?
TE: Gronkowski and Gonzalez.
Offensive Line: New England Patriots?

Sounds fun! :awe:
