I have a bad feeling this Mazda 6 is going to have a lumbar support in the seat, and that's going to screw this whole thing up.

After finding some pictures, the shape of the seat, whether clad in cloth or leather, appears to be identical, meaning I'm probably going to hate this car. Well, not hate the car per se, but hate the seat. It has side bolsters, sandwiching two panels. The upper panel covers most of the upper back, from the top of the shoulders to the end of the ribs. Then there is a groove between the two segments, which itself is a problem, before even getting to the lower segment. The lower segment covers from below the ribs to the bottom of the seat, and conceals the lumbar adjustment mechanism. This lumbar mechanism, even at fully flat, feels like it is active, although this may also be partially due to the feel of the groove between the panels.

I prefer a flatter single piece seat, something without lumbar at all. Unfortunately, this affects even luxury sport car. The G37 seat was not particularly comfortable to me, but it was better, because it uses three panels, with much shallower dividers between them, and the upper edge being at the shoulder blades.

I thought most cars came with wheels attached. You must be getting REALLY screwed.

:awe:

Heh. It does. 17x7 wearing 215/50R17 Dunlop A&S. The tires absolutely suck, they're worse than my current tires. I want to go up to 225 or even 235, but that requires wider (17x8) wheels.

But really, if the seat is just a cloth-wrapped clone of the one from the leather car (which it almost certainly will be), it's all going to be totally irrelevant, because I won't own the car.

And if that is true, it finally will knock the Mazda 6 from the running; and that was my low-cost front runner, by a mile.

Again, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Infiniti... and that's become about the extent of my list. I just don't like Honda or Toyota at all, I won't bother justifying it, because really, I won't own one of their cars. Short of the Supra being resurrected. Older Hyundai makes me skeptical. Domestics suck these days, with the possible exception of Ford.

Because I'm buying a car? No, that's having a bit of money and a bit of a loan and a broken car.
Because I want wheels for the new car? No, that's because the tires on it by default are terrible, and it needs a second set of wheels anyways.
