So the current setup is 17x7 +60 wheels with stock Dunlop 215/50R17 A/S tires. The tires are crappy, but they seem to have some wear left, another season probably?

Replacement idea would be 17x8 +50 wheels with Dunlop Star Spec 235/45R17 summer tires. That's near $1500 though. :(

Also, I need winter tires - my intent would be to put a set of snow tires onto the 17x7 stock wheels, removing the 215's.

Estimate is that in three years, the trade-in for this car would be around $7000. About 60% of what is paid for it, but of course, trade-in isn't as much because of profit margins for the dealership(s).

So now I want to find an 06 or later with leather to sit in. Nothing else matters of it; price, transmission, engine. Just that it has leather and is a 2006.

$1500 for wheels and tires sound nuts? A little bit, but at least the wheels will last.

And the old 215 tires would fit on those wheels, so if I fucked up those tires, I'll be wicked pissed, but I'd have tires to fit. Of course, if only one gets fucked, I'd just replace it.

Or so I could buy the wheels and wait on the tires for a few more months. But then it's an extra mount/balance cost, which is silly.

Given the newly increased payments, I don't know if I'd be able to purchase the wheels/tires though next spring.

A nice black loaded GT '08 six auto is about 25 miles away at Ira Lexus. A decent silver one is in my own town, but at the worst kind of sleazy stealership you could envision.

I'd be more inclined to do the fifty round trip, take the nice one for a test drive in the process for more wheel time with the car, et cetera.

I suspect my father will agree.

He's the one who has to deal with the salesmen anyways, my tolerance for their bullshit is completely non-existent. If it's a good guy, I don't have an issue aside from just not being good at chatting and being sociable. But if the salesman is a dick, I really just don't want to do anything except say what I want, and be totally unreasonable.

Actually... nevermind. Definitely the far away, more seat time means better judgment of the comfort level, and that means a test drive, and more than one person has had a car from the stealership break down on the test drive. Which is utterly hilarious.

I might have to run this one by myself, up to Manchester, NH. The car is nearly $17k, but if they're open and have the car, I think I can deal with them.

I'm a college student who needs/wants a new car, has some money saved up and a decent job, I want to take a look, take the car for a test drive. If I like the car, I'll come back with my father for his opinion on it. If asked, I do not want to make a deposit on the car. They'll scan my license, but they, being a reputable dealer, probably won't ask for phone/email/address to bother me.

Or I'll just tell them that the car isn't what I'm looking for, thanks for your time.

The nice thing about manufacturer branded dealerships, they don't usually pull that crap of phone/email/address. Last time that happened, it was a stealership, and we gave them all manner of bullshit contact info. Phone number to a local company, spam email accounts, et cetera.

And yes, the local company is fair. We get wrong number calls for them about once a month, and we're usually kind enough to tell them what they did wrong/how to contact the company. So they owe us. :p

I had to walk out in the hall, and I swear I can smell McDonald's. More likely it's the grill across the street has finally resumed operation. But oh my god it smells so fucking good. I'M HUNGRY. Hamburger and french fries, OM NOM NOM.

I would need to roll the fenders to go up to 235/45R17 tires. The overall diameter is less than the the stock 215/50R17 tires, but the width is enough that to avoid threatening the interior suspension bits, the offset must be reduced a bit, and so the outer edge projects further, which puts it under the fender's unfinished edge.
