Endless money pit. Did you have the truck checked out before you bought it?
I did and the AC worked. I think it had a leak so they just filled it up so it lasts long enough... The garage I bought it from is known to be very good in the community so I hate to blame everything on them, but I really feel I kinda got screwed. It was one thing after the other from the start, though a few issues were not their fault at all, it was parts that got stolen or just happened to go bad at wrong time... and then the autostarter was something I wanted installed. But yeah it's been a huge money pit. I keep adding money on the credit line instead of paying it off. I'm at close to 14k now. It's not entirely the truck though as there's been other expenses put on there too, but a good chunk of it is that.
Part of the issue too is it was a fast purchase, I was in the middle of working 12h shifts, I was not available to really do much shopping, I had no vehicle, so my dad (who sold cars all his life so he knows a thing or two about that) went to check it out and sent me pictures and it looked good as far as both of us were concerned so I bought it, and it was fine until winter came then it was a thing after the other. It's also hard to find regular cab 8' box trucks now so wen that one came up it was exactly what I wanted. The boxes on trucks seem to be getting smaller now. Anything smaller than 4x8 is kind of pointless, because most material comes in 4x8 sheets.
But yeah as much as having a truck has been nice and I made good use of it, I would have been better off buying a used car for like 3 grand and a trailer and hitch for when I want to buy lumber and stuff. The ground clearance of a truck is nice for in the bush though. I bottomed out my car a few times on rough roads.
I need to start thinking about a secondary source of income I think. I've been doing everything I can to reduce my costs of living but it's very minor savings like 5-10 bucks a month. Like I lowered my internet to the lowest tier, changed my cell plan etc. The more expensive bills that keep going up are the ones I have no control over though, like taxes, water and insurance. My insurance is up to $180 now. Was $170 about a month ago. I got a couple quotes from other places and it all ends up being about the same. Everything else has stayed more or less the same in the past few months but everything together just adds up a lot.
