Fuck it's raining. It should not be raining.
I'm always surprised when morons panic and drink Purell or bathe in a tub full of bleach. Ignorance truly is the seed of fear.
It's weird how carbs will totally fill you up despite being empty calories. Had a couple left over timbits from yesterday with my coffee this morning. Still not hungry. I feel like a carb diet could be an actual thing, the trick is you eat a small amount first thing in the morning and then you fast the rest of the day because you're not hungry! I need to patent this.![]()
Turns out two people I live with were infected with COVID-19 (only now realized what it was)
The virus has been in Washington for quite a while. Weeks before the first death.
They pretty much had uncontrollable dry cough and very mild fever for a few weeks.
Nobody knew the virus was here, must've picked it up at work (big campus lots of internationals).
I was not affected, but to date I've been immune to almost everything.
Those are the first ones to croak
"Those"?
Are you saying this about my housemates or me?
Just clarifying.
You. People that don't get sick means their immune system haven't had to fight infections..

LolI have a rental car while my car is being repaired. I called to extend the rental by a week. The rental place could find no record of me renting the car. I gave them my name - nope. Confirmation number - nope. Plate number - nope, car wasn't even showing in their system. So I asked if I could just keep the car then. They found the car.![]()
Been meaning to try to break out of my water heater rental. It's an old style gas one with metal exhaust and pilot light. 40% efficient at best. You can get these for under a grand new. Since I owned the house I paid over $2,000 for it. Called to see what the buy out is and they want $398! However, if I tell them to come pick it up it's free to break out of the contract. The part I find messed up is that there is no freaking way they are actually going to just give that to another customer when it's over 10 years old, it will most likely be scrapped. I highly doubt they will get $300 for it at the scrap yard. It's nuts that they want that much money for the buyout.
What I will do though is buy an electric one, they are cheap and super easy to install. I'll install it and then take the rental one out and have them come pick it up. If I feel the electric costs too much to run, I will then get a tankless and connect it after the electric unit and turn the electric one off. You typically want a holding tank before a tankless heater anyway as the incoming water is too cold. It will also act as a backup. A tankless will run me over 2 grand probably so while it does make it seem like I may as well keep renting, I have to remember it will be more efficient, and if I wanted to rent a tankless they would be charging way more I'm sure. So yeah, summer job I guess. I'm thinking the electric might not even cost that much to run. My sister just moved into a house that has an electric I should ask her if she sees a bigger hydro bill.
Oh gas tankless is on the agenda but they are expensive. If I go that route I want a good condensing one, they are super efficient. 2 pipes, like a furnace, so no vaccum sucking your conditioned air outside.
So might do electric first since I need a holding tank anyway, then I'll decide if I want to do tankless too. I could save by doing install myself (got quoted for 7k to install) but would still need to hire out gas line (about 2k). I don't have the threading tools to do it myself and rather not touch gas anyway.
